After a picnic in the park on this beautiful day Gavin fell into the deep fishing pond at the park. I'm telling you it only takes one second, a turn of the head, and it's too late. Gavin of course, fond of the water, reached for a stick and slipped on the wet grass falling into the freezing and deep pond water. He let out a yelp as Shannon jumped in after him, throwing him to me on the shore. Gavin did great holding his breath and trying to stay afloat as best as he could. We were all scared, shocked, wet, and cold. All that has run through my head this entire day is how something terrible can happen in a second. As a parent, there is no way you can protect your kids from all danger. This is the hardest thing to grasp as a parent. Accidents happen and we can only do our best and thank God every day for all the blessings in our life.
Leaving for Virginia
Shannon getting ready to go to VA for the week:
Gavin: I want to go with you daddy.
Shannon: I wish you could buddy!
Gavin: I'm sure I can find work.
