A Conversation with Gavin's Teacher

Mrs Julia: I think you'll appreciate this! Yesterday during lunch, Gavin was sitting beside a student with a "not at all healthy" lunch! We're talking a WHOLE Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar, Oreos, and CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS!!!!!!!! Yes, that was the entire lunch, topped off with a Capri Sun. I'm helping everyone open their lunch, and I commented on what a good, healthy meal Gavin had. I look back, and the dear child had given Gavin half of the chocolate bar. I swooped in and took it, saying that we cannot share food in our lunch because our mommies/daddies packed what they wanted their child to have! Gavin didn't even seem phased, but I was so glad that I quickly saw it! YUCK! Mary James was in there, and she even commented on how yummy Gavin's food looked! I sure wasn't going to ruin THAT lunch! smile Now to teach children/mommies the definition of lunch......
Have a great weekend!
Julia

Me: Thanks for sharing! Gavin does eat very healthy but he loves sugar just like his momma! And that poor child with the unhealthy lunch. Gavin should be sharing his lunch with that child. It just makes me want to cry. Gavin did tell me the other day, "Everyone has a cookie in their lunch but me!" Then I felt bad so I had to make some cookies and put one in his lunch!

Disclaimer: Gavin did receive a cupcake yesterday for someone's birthday in addition to his healthy lunch which was fruit and veggie kabobs (avocado, plum, cucumber, raspberry, banana), cottage cheese, and raw almonds and pecans. Unfortunately, the poor child with the chocolate bar, oreo, and chocolate chip muffin also got to supplement his/her diet with a cupcake. I smell diabetes in their future.
