Halloween

Every year since we were pregnant with Gavin we have taken a real liking to the fun of dressing up for Halloween. When I was pregnant you may recall Shannon was a chef and I wore a box with an oven drawn on and a bun right in the middle. Shannon wore a sign that said, "Bun-maker" and I had the "bun in the oven."  Gavin's first year Shannon was deployed so he simply wore a pumpkin and we took a picture with our friends and visited a pumpkin patch. That was about it. With Shannon back, my ultimate sewing man, hand crafted a few things from the thrift store and we were soon the Incredibles. My friend Susi, also a Halloween lover, found Gavin an Incredible onesie which was the inspiration for the idea.  In Colorado, the inspiration to our costume was the giraffe exhibit at the Colorado Springs zoo. Gavin and I found a giraffe costume at Sam's and he told Shannon to be an elephant (also hand crafted with wire and fabric by Shannon) and I was a black panther. Our most expensive costumes to date were last years costumes which took a lot of time for Shannon to sew as well. Gavin wanted us all to go as angry birds. He told us each which ones we would be so Shannon got to sewing. Our costumes were certainly unique and probably the most fun. We got so many compliments. This year Gavin was out of ideas and Shannon wasn't much help either. So I tried to think as I had in the past of something that was a theme or popular activity in our lives at the time. It came to me that we do a lot of golfing here. With a 18 hole course in our community how could you not? We noticed Gavin wasn't too bad at swinging a club so we bought him a few clubs. Then Shannon saw a big sale on a female set of clubs and we were all set. So now we go out as a family when we can and play a round of 9 holes.  So this year, golfers it is!
