Middle Schooler

Gavin has now entered the age of lockers, multiple teachers in multiple classrooms, and girls calling him on the phone.

He admitted to chickening out on his first school dance where his girlfriend left angry video messages, "Where are you?" in a quiet corner of the gym with over 400 kids inside.

She calls often on my phone of course, because he doesn't have his own, and no house line here.  Of the 100 or so times she has called since school started he has answered maybe once.  I remember the days of land lines and looooong phone cords stretched until they no longer curled just to get privacy. And the days of having to get call waiting because I would be on the phone for so long.  I also remember boys talking to me on the phone until one of us fell asleep. "You hang up. NO YOU hang up. No No YOU hang up."

Apparently, Gavin isn't interested enough to do that, not that I would let him.  But hearing a little blip of the few conversations he has had with her on the phone, she does most of the talking. All of it, really.  Poor girl, pretty sure she will get her heart broken.
