Today is you parents 20 year wedding anniversary. TWENTY. I hardly feel old enough to be celebrating 20 years, yet here it stands in front of me.
Twenty years ago I married my best friend in a country church in Kansas, with the wind whipping through my veil, our best childhood friends at our side, and train whistles screaming their congratulations across the plains. The pews filled with all the people I had loved in my first 20 years of life on the planet. You were not a thought at the time. Kids one day, sure, but we were no where ready for that giant leap.
I now have been with your dad for much longer than I haven't. At 16, I never would have guessed he would be the one to carry me through my life and watch me grow up and morph into who I am today. On the hard days I wonder why he chose me. On the easy days, I know exactly why the fates put us together.
At a young age, I made a very wise choice. I'm pretty proud of how smart a decision that young woman made all those years ago.
We never know what way the winds will carry us, I guess that's part of the joy of living, but man am I sure glad I've ended up here.
I hope that you find a partner in life who will lift you up when you need lifted, hold you up when you are falling down, and cheer you on right by your side on the days when you have life all figured out and everything goes your way. And I hope you will be that same beautiful human for your partner too.
