While I was galavanting around Italy my boys were backpacking through New Mexico for Philmont, a Boy Scout high adventure camp. They hiked over 120 miles in 13 days to an elevation of 11,860 feet and everyone made it! Shannon had heat exhaustion a few days in and had to go to medical to get re-hydrated. Giles fell off a mountain about 6 feet and beat himself up pretty bad. Shannon addressed his medical emergency and got him to a hospital for check up. The doctor said he couldn't have done a better job of addressing his wounds. All in all, it was exhausting, and they were gross, stinky, and hairy, but they survived!
I asked you what the funniest story was from camp and you told me this:
Nick's (one of the boys in his troop) mom asked that some scouts make sure Nick brushes his teeth on the trip. So the boys created a "game" where they all got in a circle around the fire to brush their teeth together. They called it the "circle brush." The adults found this hilarious, promised that Nick was brushing his teeth, and swore never to mention the circle brush again.
