New Things with the G-Man

Gavin is right at home here in CO. We are always busy with play dates, pools, walks, sightseeing, and more. I've been looking into homeschooling him for preschool and maybe onward, but also want to check out some local preschools. I haven't decided what's best. I do know that we are already homeschooling him in a sense. He knows his numbers from 1-10 in Spanish. He also sings the entire alphabet and counts to about 14. He started counting backwards one day from 4 to 1. He can even identify some letters when asked. He can pee standing up now and even when sitting can get off the potty by himself. He loves to play with the boy next door, Aiden. Aiden is about 6 months older than Gavin. They love to dig in the dirt and chase each other. He also loves to hang with his old friends from OK, Max and Mackenzie, who are also stationed here. He loves to watch the airplanes land and take off just behind our house at the air base.

I've also noticed, especially recently, that Gavin has a Brooklyn accent. He says certain words with some an accent sometimes. I wonder where he's getting it. There is theya and here is heya. Beer is beeya and so on.

You might wonder why a 2.5-year-old would even say beer. At the park the other day, we were at an event that had canned lemonade. I gave him one and tried to take a sip for myself and he said, "no, that's my beeya."

My Son the Sponge

Gavin's started in with some rather grown up come backs lately. We've heard, "I told ya" and "Yes it is or no it isn't." Which at age two, is kind of funny and cute that he's picked up on our couple's banter. But at age five, I might want to ring his neck hearing these comments.

Today we were sitting in the car; my mom, dad, Gavin, and I on our way to see some sights in CO and Gavin says, "I should have brought my binocolorus (binoculars in G speak) so I could look at girls." After a "WHAT?" from all of us in the car, he repeats the same sentence. We began to wonder where he might have heard this... rewind to the weekend at the lake with my uncles...remember Uncle Brad mentioning binoculars to look at girls. Oh boy! My son the sponge. Thank you, Uncle Brad.
