We had more than just my parents for company this past weekend. Shannon got to come home too for 5 days. It was so nice. He finished school and his flight for Afghanistan didn't leave until several days later from Denver so he came home to us. It was a great visit, just what we needed. We had a few date nights and we went to Paint the Town, an amazingly fun time painting with a group and a teacher, dancing and snacking. A blast! Then we went to a movie another night. We also took the parents hiking and shopping. We cooked and ate and just relaxed. It was awesome!
Gavin reacted as if this is all very normal, which it is. He told the lady at my Physical Therapy office that "Daddy goes to work, but he always comes home."
Now we are back to marking the days off the calendar. And if the Air Force ever fixes the "broken" plane that leaves from Norfolk this morning, he will finally be on his way to the Middle East and we can start the next 180 days! We are at an 11 1/2 hour time difference so it looks like the deployment may not actually start until tomorrow. BOO!
