Punishment

I decided to try a new punishment technique for various bad behaviors; writing. Every time I catch Gavin in a lie he has to write five times "I will not lie."

In one day, he had to write that line plus, "I will listen." Turns out he loves writing so much he decided to play on my little punishment by saying, "I love writing mom, I want to write more!" (What a shit with his reverse psychology). Ok, maybe this is going to backfire on me.

Awhile later, he was back to "not listening" so I made him write something harder, "I will follow directions." Backfire again. He comes to me with all the lines filled out, astounded at his skills.

This morning as he watched tv with me in my bed, I laid there and just memorized his little face. He started to notice and get annoyed. He leaves and comes back to my bed with a notebook and pencil and tells me to write, "I will not look at Gavin" five times. When he saw how fast I can write he made me write it five more times!

What kind of discipline works on this kid? He outsmarts everything I try or just makes it particularly adorable and who can argue that?
