We recently returned from a free family vacation provided by a non-profit organization called Project Sanctuary that offers military families a therapeutic vacation filled with recreational activities near Granby, CO in the heart of the Colorado Rockies.
Project Sanctuary welcomed us with open arms as if we were old friends. We immediately felt at home and were greeted with a bag full of treats for our room and a $50 gift card for the local grocery/gas store. They provided us with an entire cabin to ourselves with an amazing view. We celebrated each meal at a main cabin with 10 other families. There was a wide array of home cooked food.
Our first full day began with the kids (who played great together) going on for some fun with the youth director while the adults stayed back for some one on one time in a healthy marriage seminar. In the afternoon, we played archery, rockclimbing, ping pong, and roller skated as a family. Gavin loved the rock climbing so much he went up and down for over an hour! Other activities included hiking with a park ranger, fishing with a local fishing company for rainbow trout at a nearby lake, bowling, yoga, swimming and gymnastics center and more. The gymnastics center was hands down the most memorable moment. All the adults were jumping on trampolines and getting lost in a pit of foam. The laughter filled the air and the smiles of these soldiers and their families really relaxing and letting go was priceless.
Project Sanctuary also provided us with a Dave Ramsey financial peace kit and a date night out on the town. Meanwhile the kids were back at the big cabin having movie night snuggled in the new blankets a local group had made for them and playing board games that had been donated to the children.
Our trip was excellent and relaxing and fun and completely memorable!
If you are looking to support this organization through donation or your time please go to http://projectsanctuary.us/ and get in touch. If you are military and wish to enjoy this opportunity go to their website to apply. I promise you won't be disappointed!
Prayer and Laughs
Me: Gavin you don't need to have toys all over kingdom come.
Gavin: Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread...
What a funny guy. Guess he is really listening at church.
