Today in mass we had a guest priest who spoke to us about an organization he supports called Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. It has been on my heart to sponsor a child in poverty for a couple years now but I had never heard of one supported by Catholics. So when he spoke of choosing a child to sponsor today I knew it was meant to be. Right after mass Gavin and I walked around the tables looking for 5 year old boys Gavin might have something in common with. There were several to choose from.
Gavin decided to sponsor a boy named Antonio from Costa Rica. He is a very sweet looking little boy who loves to play with his toy car. When Gavin heard he only had one toy car he immediately asked to mail him several of his cars and also many books so that he can read. We are very much looking forward to helping his family by sponsoring $30 a month and in addition Gavin having a pen pal and long distance friend! What a blessing for Gavin and Antonio to have a long distance brother to learn about generosity, love, cultural differences and much more. And it's certainly a blessing for us to be able to help change the life of a family in need.
