Reminiscing

A week or so ago I decided to re-read this blog, to start at the beginning and reminisce, so I asked Gavin if he would like to listen to my stories. I explained to him that I started writing this blog when he was a baby so I would remember all the cool things he said and did and that one day I would make it into a book to give him so he could read it too and remember me.

We laid down in his bed one night and I started to read. I read through a few months of blog posts and looked down at him. He was crying. He hugged and kissed me and crawled into my lap and said, "It's just beautiful mommy. I love it."  Holding back a few tears myself I said, "I love you!"

My sweet boy.

Now it is our nightly quiet time. Before bed I sit and read out loud to the three of us and we laugh at stories I wrote several years ago.

In hindsight, I look back and he was a pretty easy kid a lot of the time. He potty trained quick, he transitioned quickly in our moves, he only had a few rough nights when the plug fairy confiscated his pacifier. So many fun things to look back on, but when you are in the midst of the challenge at hand, time can look like it's standing still and you wonder if you'll ever make it through. Turns out, we always do, make it through... together.
