Image of Gavin on a Disney Norwegian Cruise to Norway
A neighbor (she's an ex-bounty hunter down the street who is always watching through her blinds) told me she heard a girl cry out after school the other day. When she looked out the window, she saw a blond-haired girl sprawled on the ground with all her stuff scattered around her. She watched Gavin walk over and help her up and gather her things.
We got an email from his teacher the other day saying that Gavin was focused and on top of everything. She made him a peer tutor
to a fellow classmate who has only been speaking English for about a
year. He was thrilled to help him.
His demeanor and everything so far this year is so different. He comes home from school free from the restraints of hours' worth of homework, free from being demeaned by his teacher all day, and free of having me be the second nag he listens to in his day. He follows directions and is polite, kind, and loving.
He met a new friend in his class who lives on our street and his mom says she doesn't mind him coming over because he is the politest kid she has ever met.
It's so nice to hear these things about your kids. Makes you feel like you have done at least one thing good and right in your life. I'm happy he's mine.
