It's 2009, it's a cold, dreary morning in December, and it's TIME TO OPEN PRESENTS! I think I was more excited than Gavin, not for me to open my gifts but for him to open his. We started the morning off with Gavin calling to me from the other side of the house at 6:50 AM, "Mommy uppy-daisy, MOMMY!" He doesn't even realize it's our day to celebrate our first Christmas as a family, so he asks for, "milk" and "OSO" his favorite cartoon on Disney. I make a special breakfast of homemade waffles and eggs. Yummy. After everything and everyone is cleaned up and Shannon and I enjoy our cup of coffee, I say, "Gavin do you want to open presents?" He runs to the tree and finds underneath an unwrapped helmet and says, "WOW Helmet!" Basically, through opening gifts each one was cooler than the next and we got a lot of "WOW's." All day long we took turns riding our new bicycle and building tracks for our choo-choo's. Kids remind you of how mystical Christmas really is.
And this is only the beginning for us; 5 more Christmas's too go. Look out Kansas, here we come!
