At Three

At 3, you are almost 38 inches tall and weigh 28 lbs. You love all things with wheels. You like to try and fix things. You are aware of most everything around you. That your dad is gone to help others for work, that Colorado is your current home, that wherever you are there is an opportunity for fun and you would rather stay there until you are good and ready to come home.

You have a huge vocabulary and speak so clearly that nearly everyone can understand you and people often make comments that you appear older than you are because of it. You ask what words mean when you haven't heard them before. You mimic people's behaviors and their words and tone of voice, just like a parrot.

You are polite, kind, energetic, independent, and creative. You love to be around people of all ages and will make friends with just about anyone. You are a pretty good eater most of the time, but you don't like leftovers. You will eat cauliflower and broccoli as a snack and you like it.

You know all of your colors, can count to 20, can trace your name and recognize it as well. You fight bedtime unless you haven't napped, sleeping about 11-12 hours a day. You still love your blankie and stuffed cat, "kitty."

You make the sign for I love you often and you hold it up, while I make the same sign, and you push our fingers together, like an I love you hug. You tell me you love me many times a day and that you miss your daddy.

You love TV so I have to keep it off most of the day, which I don't mind. I would rather make crafts with you, read books, go for a walk, or play hide and seek with you. I enjoy getting to spend each and everyday with you, teaching you, and playing. Some days are very long, but when I close my eyes at night, I always give my thanks for that day with you.
