Oh What A Night!

It's been a long couple of weeks for us, as you know, with illnesses and all. I put Gavin in his room around 7:00 and told him he could read for awhile. I went downstairs to finish the movie I had started and as usual heard him playing around up there. I checked on him twice, put him "to bed" twice and still by 9:00 heard him playing around. After the movie was over, I climbed the stairs to find him naked with 4 oz of Purell squirted all over the clothes and floor.  You really can't leave this kid alone, he will find a way to get into trouble in a room full of pillows.

After that lecture I put him to bed, sure he will fall asleep, I mean it was getting late. I retreat to my room, brush my teeth, and settle down to meditate in my "little corner."  I get into my happy place and I must really have been there because next thing I know I hear a whispered, "mommy" just inches from my face. My eyes flew open and I screamed bloody murder. I thought my heart was going to explode and send a million pieces like shrapnel through all of my internal organs.  He looks at me and says, "the wind is scary." The kid is quiet like a ninja! So I proceeded to give him a lecture about scaring people and how he now has to knock before he comes in. I couldn't help but thinking that there had to be some bad karma about getting ripped from your meditation practice? Let's hope not. And the thought also crossed my mind of the low likelihood of someone breaking into my house on base, but hey, he still scared the crap out of me.

So at 6:10AM I hear his little knuckles knocking away. Well, at least he learns quick.

Oh yes, and at 3:30 am I wake to the cat puking again. Not on the floor, but right next to me on my dry clean only comforter. I mean, really, why get up and puke on cheap carpet?

In the shower tonight Gavin said, "I wish my blankie was waterproof."

Also he buttoned his own shirt tonight all by himself! Yeah, that's tough work!
