Took Gavin to the pediatrician today for a nasty sounding cough and because it has been 3 nights since I've gotten more than 3 hours of consecutive sleep. Gavin sick=mommy exhausted. The Dr looked him over and as I've come to suspect from all doctors says, "it's a virus, it just needs to run its course." Gavin looks at her as she says goodbye, and he tells her, "but I'm still sick!" Yes Gavin learned an important lesson today, doctors can't fix everything (if anything) and I learned an important lesson thanks to Gavin. We have certain expectations of people based on who they are to us in our lives and often those expectations are far too high, and people fall extremely short of them. Here's to health hopefully very soon before I fall into an exhaustion coma.
Medicine
I took Gavin back to the dr today. He hadn't played in two days and he started to act like he was having trouble breathing, only sleeping in 15-40 min increments even for nap. As I suspected his cough had turned into bronchitis and an ear infection. So they sent us off for antibiotics. When I handed Gavin the bag he perked up from his sad, quiet, hurting face and said, "Thank you mommy. I love you." He could hardly wait to get home and take the medicine. He was surprised and upset when it didn't have an immediate effect. Let's hope this does the trick.
