You attended your first school dance, the Homecoming dance at Montgomery Catholic this past weekend. You complained about having to dress up and wanted to wear a hat. You also joked about leaving too many buttons undone on your collared shirt, which I hope you actually kept buttoned at the Catholic dance. Your grandparents were visiting and we all dropped you off at 8:30pm with me yawning in the backseat that this was too late for a dance. Don't they know it is my pajama time? How would I make it to 10pm to pick you up?
There was a HS football game going on and we tried to drop you off near the Middle School door but we entered a road they clearly close during games because there were people everywhere. So we thoroughly embarrassed you, turned around, you jumped out and took off. I watched you run into the sea of people like you knew where you were going and couldn't get away fast enough. I can't blame you, I was glad we were in your grandma's car so no one would notice us!
When we picked you up at 10pm you said you had fun in your non-chalant, won't get too excited and let them know I had a good time way, and said you asked a girl, Jaja to dance. Oh to have been a fly on the wall.
You were hesitant to show up, nervous I suppose, but you did and you had a good time. And mama got one of her "firsts" with you once again.
