Let your Light Shine

10th grade

In the morning when I wake and look through my uncovered windows at the view, I open my eyes to the lush green hills covered in fog. The cloudy haze blanketing sometimes on the tips of the hills and other times like a ghost hovering just feet from my windowsill blanketing everything from view.

As the sun rises higher, it seems to blossom with joy through the limbs of a monumental tree in the distance. It's rays shoot through as if to greet us good morning and say, "Stop wasting away your morning come sit with me."

I smile with gratitude for all that we have dreamed and worked for to get here in this place and now we are here! And the next part of me thinks, if only we could wake with such joy no matter where we are on the planet, or what problems are being thrown our way.

But this is what it is to be human. To not know all the answers, to fail, to falter, to wane. And then, to have that one moment in existence where we are awake enough to see the blessing, and get set straight on our paths again.

Aim high today to connect to your blessing(s). No matter how bad your day may seem I promise there is one. Let your light shine towards it.
