Gavin's birthday party was a blast. The whole weekend was fun filled for everyone! On Saturday the grandparents showed up, including great grandma Alderson. Gavin couldn't wait to open the table full of gifts he'd received. We had to remind him that we had to wait for Jonah (his friend) so he couldn't open them until after nap. So he promptly took one. After nap, Jonah hadn't arrived yet so he waited and checked the window with Grandpa A. Only to say Jonah was "breakin heart" when he didn't show by 2PM. So we got started! Shortly after opening the gift shaped like a guitar, which he somehow knew that was what was inside, Jonah showed. The two of them immediately tore into the gifts. Occasionally stopping to fight over the same toy in a room filled with them! After all that was done we continued our Elmo themed party with pizza and cake. Gavin and Jonah blew out the candles together and posed for photos not before both sticking a finger in the cake. Both were covered in blue icing from ear to ear shortly after that. The rest of the afternoon into the eve was filled with grandma Kay playing Gavin's new guitar while Gavin danced and later bowed and said "thank you" to all that were watching "the show." That night after fighting to take a shower, (he was afraid the grandparents were going to leave if he left the room) he got settled into his jammies for the night. What a day!
On Sunday, he had another fun filled day of constant attention and playtime from the grandparents. Shannon and I ducked out for several hours to go to dinner and a movie (long overdue) and Gavin didn't even know we were gone! While we were enjoying the quiet company of each other Gavin was at home getting rides in his "laundry sleigh" around the house from Grandma Kay and helping the rest of the grandparents build his new table and chairs set. That night he took a 40 second shower so as not to miss out on any fun the grandparents might have without him. But by 7:30 he was ready to tell daddy nite-nite and go off to dreamland.
It was an awesome birthday weekend.
