As part of Gavin's 2-year celebration and a break from not so sunny OK we decided to take a short trip south to Grapevine, TX and visit the Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Waterpark. It took about 10 minutes for Gavin to warm up to the idea and the noise, but after that it was full force. His little fingers dragging us around to his particular areas of interest. Most of the time was either a slide or a jet ski that shoots water. Other areas of fun included the arcade which he called "driving" and roaming the LONG hallways and climbing the MANY flights of stairs in the lobby area. A stop at the gift shop for a time killer resulted in Gavin picking up random toys and telling us to "pay for it." On Day 1 despite the 3-hour drive from OK, no nap, very little food, and 3 hours of playing in a pool, there were only minor complains, no major meltdowns. Back in the room at nearly his bedtime, he says, "more swimming, more driving, hats on, shoes on, let's go!" Daddy and I were pooped. We were full from devouring an overpriced dinner and wanted to just crawl into bed and sleep and here our 2-year-old boy was ready to continue the party.
I have to wonder at what age you lose that energy? At what age do you finally say, "nah I'd rather sleep or just stay at home and rest"? I must have lost it somewhere in my early 20's but it sure would be useful to have it back to keep up with the G-man!
