One day I was talking about hair and roots. Gavin was quick to correct me with his big vocabulary.
Gavin: They aren't roots mom, they're follicles!"
I told Gavin one night to pray for our aunt that is getting remarried. He asked me, "Are they going to get married and have babies?" I said, "No, sometimes people just get married because they love each other and don't have any babies." He replies, "Well I want you to have more babies so that I can have friends with me all the time." My response, "You do have friends. You have neighbors and friends from school." "That's not good enough. I want a friend here all the time," he says. I laugh at his cleverness to the subject and say only what a mom of one can say, "When I had you, you were all the love my heart could hold, and I'm ok with that." He sighs, content with that answer, "ok."
