Holidays and Time with Family

This holiday we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at home in our own house just the 3 of us. We skyped with the grandparents back home and enjoyed some holiday fun events like seeing the Nutcracker Ballet at Davis Theater in Montgomery performed by the Montgomery Ballet. We also went to see the play, A Christmas Carol at the Shakespeare Theater in Montgomery.

After we opened gifts at our house, we packed the car and drove to Baton Rouge. We spent two nights at Shannon's cousins house and Gavin got to meet 4 of his second cousins, 2 girls and 2 boys. He got along great with Genevieve who is just a few months older than Gavin. He called her his "sister cousin." They played way too many video games, but also took short breaks to roller skate, and watch movies. I think they watched the Lego Movie about 15 times. Gavin kept repeating lines over and over like, "Honey, wear are my paaannts?"

We spent another 2 nights at Shannon's aunt Nancy's house. Genevieve stayed over one night. Her and Gavin had a blast. At night when it was time for bed, we sent the kids to separate rooms and Gavin says, "See you in the morning Babe" to Genevieve. We had to explain the relationship to him. It was pretty funny!

Gavin would also make me laugh a deep belly laugh by doing impersonations. It always amazes me how much he picks up and how he can take real life situations and see some humor in it. The whole vacation he had a horrible cough. Other than the cough he was fine. He still has it but it's less frequent. We have much to be thankful for as we come into this new year.

I am certainly thankful for the laughs, for time with family, as we approach the high probability of Shannon taking command in the Azores on a one year command tour without the two of us.(insert thumbs down emoticon here) We were blessed to have found a beautiful 20 acres of land in Hunstville and to have bought and paid for it all this year.

I am grateful to my family for putting up with my absence so much this past year as I continue to grow and develop in my yoga career, taking on new certifications and teaching more classes. There has been a lot of personal growth for all three of us this year and for that I am truly thankful beyond words. Hippy New Year!
