Baby Kitten

Gavin has been bugging me lately to get him a baby kitten.  Last night he asked me the story of how we got Rusty. So I told him that I picked Rusty after we joined the Air Force to keep me company when daddy was gone. There was a whole row of cages with kittens that had no home. (Gavin chimes in here with a big, "aww, I will take them all home.") I didn't want an orange one but when I opened the cage he crawled up on my neck and purred. So I brought him home. The story was much longer than this but you get the idea. I asked Gavin why he wanted a kitten, when he already has a cat. "Because they are so cute and cuddly mom."  "Yes Gavin" I replied, "but cats are lots of work. Mommy has to feed and water him, brush him, give him a bath, vacuum up all his hair everywhere, and clean his poop box."  "Yes Mommy, I will do all that! I can help."

Hmmm, he almost convinced me. Must have been a weak moment.  Buck up sister! "And where will you get this kitten?"

He knows the answer, "At Marjean's."  For those of you that don't know my aunt Marjean, she ALWAYS has kittens and we conveniently are headed to Wichita where she lives for Christmas.  Smart boy, but mommy is smarter. Kids don't help mommies take care of pets. It's a fact.  They just look all cute and convince you, you need a pet and in reality you end up with a hairier form of kid to care for.
