Fun Time at the Park

Gavin and I spent a beautiful afternoon at the park. This particular park had sign language for the alphabet posted, so I taught him how to sign the alphabet with his hands. He caught on really quick, with practice he should have it memorized before I know it!

He counted on an abacus at the park from 1-49 without messing up. He's been able to count by 10's to 100 for a while now and he's able to write 10-100 by 10's, and being able to say 29, 30 or 39, 40 is a new development!

Those transitions have been tough for him.  When we ran out of beads on the abacus, we did some math. We also sang songs for the days of the week and the months, but he's got all those down cold.

After some running around, monkey bars, climbing, and games of tic tac toe I taught him how to pump his legs to swing by himself. Within two tries, he was swinging on his own. Now he doesn't even need me to do that anymore!

My big boy is growing up. Pretty soon, he'll be smarter than me and I won't have anything left to teach him!
